B.E (The Entrepreneur) Episode 2 - The Weekend

Karan’s Second Day at Work & Weekend Adventures

The next morning, Karan got ready and rode his bike to the office. Now familiar with the routine, he reached work by 10 AM and proceeded to the meeting hall, where the HR team shared details about their respective projects. The freshers were then introduced to their managers.

Karan’s manager, Balaji, assigned him to a hospital management project for a client in Mumbai. Since the company primarily focused on emergency response systems, their projects revolved around hospital management, ambulance services, fire service management, and similar domains.

His role in the project was UI Designer, and since the project was still in its initial phase, he was given time to refresh his knowledge on UI design principles. With minimal tasks assigned for the week, Karan focused on brushing up on his skills.

Saturday – A Cricket-Filled Weekend Begins

On Saturday morning at 9 AM, Karan’s phone vibrated with an alarm. Used to waking up at 6:15 AM on weekdays, he decided to sleep in a little longer, enjoying the weekend rest.

After finally waking up and freshening up, his phone buzzed with a WhatsApp notification from his school friends' group, "Ee Saala Cup Namdhe". His friends were planning a trip to Chinnaswamy Stadium that evening to watch the RCB vs Punjab IPL match.

Although MS Dhoni was his all-time favorite cricketer, being from Bangalore, Karan had always supported RCB over CSK. His school friends, just as passionate about cricket, would always end up discussing the sport whenever they met or chatted. They usually played cricket together every weekend, though only 6 to 8 out of their 10–11-member group would show up regularly.

Excited about the match, they quickly booked ₹250 tickets and headed to the stadium.

RCB vs Punjab – A Thrilling Game

The match was electrifying! Virat Kohli scored a century, pushing RCB’s total past 200 runs, setting Punjab a target of 217. However, the real action began in the second innings.

Usually, RCB’s batting would shine, but their bowling would falter, leading to narrow defeats. But this time, things were different! Yuzvendra Chahal took a hat-trick, and Dale Steyn shattered two stumps in a single over. With disciplined bowling, RCB secured a thrilling victory.

The match ended around 11 PM, and after celebrating the win, Karan and his friends reached home by 1 AM.

Sunday – Early Morning Cricket Match

Just as he set his alarm for 6:45 AM and went to sleep at 1:15 AM, he was abruptly woken up the next morning by the sound of bike horns outside his house.

His friends were already outside, calling out, "Karan!"

Groggy and realizing it was already 7:30 AM, he checked his phone. His alarm had rung at 6:45 AM, but in his deep sleep, he had dismissed it.

Rushing to the balcony, he told his friends to head to the ground while he quickly freshened up and joined them on his bike.

At the ground, his team was already practicing bowling. As an experienced left-arm medium-pace bowler, Karan was given the first over. His over went as follows:

1 boundary

A couple of singles

Bowled out a batsman on the 5th ball, using his signature slower delivery

Since Karan specialized in taking wickets with deceptive slow balls, his team relied on him for crucial breakthroughs.

The match progressed, and the opponents built a steady score. However, when it was Karthik’s turn to bowl, the run rate skyrocketed.

Karthik, Karan’s best friend, was their team captain. Though he was a skilled batsman, his bowling was unpredictable—he could take a critical wicket but also concede too many runs. Despite this, Karan often took charge of setting field placements and deciding batting/bowling orders, showing natural leadership.

The match was part of their preparation for a high-stakes bet match scheduled next week.

They played till 10 AM, under the scorching sun, before wrapping up the session.

Post-Match Discussions & Weekend Relaxation

As per tradition, the team headed to a tea shop nearby, where discussions about the match intensified. Conversations started with their morning game, then shifted to RCB playing the IPL final against MI and winning the trophy—at least in their imaginations!

After their usual banter, everyone headed home.

At 11 AM, Karan returned, freshened up with a cold bath, and had a hot homemade breakfast prepared by his mother.

With some free time, he turned on his personal laptop and started researching his future career plans, exploring different websites and YouTube videos for insights.

After a while, he got bored and switched to Spotify, listening to his favorite songs while casually scrolling through Facebook and Instagram. Before he knew it, the time had struck 2 PM, and he headed for lunch.

Following a short 30-minute nap, at 3:30 PM, he took his bike and went to visit Karthik.

At Karthik’s house, he found him watching a movie on TV.

As usual, they both headed upstairs, their usual hangout spot, and Karthik brought along his laptop, signaling the start of another deep discussion or random brainstorming session.
